— Well, hello there! —
(I have a lot of stuff.)

Hi! I’m John, a newly minted professional photographer and all around amazing IT guy.

I decided to expand my photography offerings to potential clients (from just IT,) to include photography because I like hiding behind a camera and also knowing how it all works and links together. I also have the innate ability to talk to cosplayers so they feel comfortable around me and I am able to capture their magic on film (or in electronic formats.)

John Hart Photography is a dream 10 years in the making and growing every day.

Fun Facts:
I love Yorkshire Tea, pizza, rum and cokes, cats, collecting vinyl, playing music and video games.

My wife and I have a large house full of fun collectibles, old computers, comics, and cats: Winston Zeddemore, Dr. Peter Venkman, and the Sloar.

We are located in Portland, Oregon and service all of Washington, Oregon, and beyond!

GEAR/PACK BAG—

Osprey Soelden 32-

To hold the general and miscellaneous gear needed for most jobs.

F-stop Medium Shallow ICU-

Designed to hold your camera gear and then insert into another pack. With some leverage this fits inside my Osprey Soelden 32 and holds a camera body with a wide-angle zoom on it, and additional lenses.

CAMERAS—

Nikon Z 8 with 24-120mm f/4 lens-

This is my main camera, I pretty much shoot with it exclusively.

iPhone 16 Pro Max-

Don’t laugh! I use this to set up shots before switching to the Nikon.

LENSES—

Nikon Z 14-24 f/2.8 S-

I love this wide lens. It’s tack sharp and has very little distortion. It’s fast. With the right filter adapter, you can use 100mm wide filters with it!

Nikon Z 20mm f/1.8 S-

A solid 20mm lens. I use this mainly for night sky photos.

Nikon Z 35mm f/1.8 S-

Small and compact and sharp even at f/1.8. I also use this for night sky photos. This is my online meeting lens as well. (Please no Microsoft Teams!)

Nikon Z 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 S-

Solid super telephoto in a small package.

FILTERS—

(I’ve recently started using filters so my post production is reduced. These 3 are the ones I use in my shots depending on what is needed.)

Tiffen Cross Section filter-

I use this filter mostly in portrait photography to add a little extra sparkle.

Tiffen Pro Mist Black Filters-
